Human MST2 Xpress Clones express MST2, a serine/threonine kinase involved in the Hippo signaling pathway, which regulates cell proliferation and apoptosis. MST2, identified from HeLa and Jurkat cell cDNA libraries, acts upstream of the MAPK cascade and is activated by proapoptotic agents like straurosporine and FAS ligand. It contains a 491-amino acid protein with a catalytic domain at the N-terminus, and the lysine residue at position 56 is essential for its activity. The K56R mutation renders MST2 kinase-inactive and serves as a dominant-negative to inhibit the Hippo pathway in mammalian cells.
