NADAL H. pylori Ag
General information about this test
:
The NADAL Enterovirus Test is a rapid immunoassay for qualitative detection of
Enterovirus
antigens (VP1 peptide) in faecal samples. The NADAL EnterovirusTest is intended to help diagnosis of Enterovirus infection.
Reagents and material supplied
:
10 NADAL Enterovirus test cassettes
10 specimen collection tubes with buffer
1 package insert
Test time
: 10 min
Performance characteristics
:
The NADAL Enterovirus Test do not exhibit cross-reactivity with:
Astrovirus, Campylobacter, E. coli, Giardia lamblia, Rotavirus, Salmonella, C. dfficile, Cryptosporidium parvum, Entamoeba histolytica, H. pylori, Listeria monocytogenes, Norovirus, Shigella, Staphylococcus aureus
and
Yersinia
.
Sensitivity and specificity of the NADAL Enterovirus Test were determined by comparison of the results of this test with those of IDEIA Enterovirus assay (Dako) and IMAGEN TM Enterovirus (Oxoid).
Sensitivity: >99%
Specificity: 98%
Test principles
:
The NADAL Enterovirus Test is a qualitative lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of antigens of the
Enterovirus
(VP41 peptide) in faecal samples. First, the VP40 antigens, if present in the sample (in the case of positive result), react with anti-
Enterovirus
antibodies bound to colored particles which are pre-dried on the internal test strip, further the sample moves along the membrane by capillary action and monoclonal anti-
Enterovirus
antibodies present on the test line react with the mixture conjugate and generate a colored line in the test (T) region of the cassette.A colored line should always appear in the control line region (C), it serves as a procedural control, indicating that the propervolume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
Clinical significance
:
Enteroviruses are divided into four groups: polioviruses, coxsackieviruses, echoviruses and numerous enteroviruses. Enteroviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses and can cause a wide spectrum of diseases in humans. All enteroviruses are transmitted by the faecal-oral route, but clinical outcomes may go beyond gastroenteritis, as some viruses travel from the intestinal tract to other organs. Poliovirus usually infects its host by attacking the central nervous system and causes paralysis (poliomyelitis) in affected persons. Coxsackieviruses are associated with not only respiratory system infections and gastroenteritis but also with insulin-dependent diabetes and heart diseases, such as myocarditis and pericarditis. Echoviruses are generally less infectious than other enteroviruses and are usually associated with the common cold and respiratory diseases. Numerous enteroviruses (Enterovirus types 68 to 71) have not been studied extensively but have been isolated from patients with bronchiolitis, conjunctivitis, meningitis and paralysis resembling poliomyelitis.
