Fibronectin Bovine
Fibronectin is a multifunctional glycoprotein that exists in two main forms: an insoluble dimer in the extracellular matrix (ECM) produced by fibroblasts, chondrocytes, endothelial cells, macrophages, and certain epithelial cells, and a soluble disulfide-linked dimer circulating in plasma, which is synthesized by hepatocytes. It plays vital roles in tissue repair, embryogenesis, blood clotting, and cell adhesion and migration by anchoring cells to collagen or proteoglycan substrates and mediating interactions between cells and the ECM through specific fibronectin receptors on cell surfaces. Elevated plasma fibronectin levels have been linked to severe coronary artery disease and an increased risk of venous thromboembolism, especially in males, suggesting its involvement in arterial atherothrombosis and related vascular conditions. - 10mg
