GENERAL INFORMATION Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the name given to the new coronavirus that originated in 2019 and is the causative agent of COVID-19 (the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus). The virus was originally known as the 2019-nCoV nomenclature. SARS-CoV-2 is a new coronavirus strain that has not been previously identified in humans. The genome of these viruses consists of single-stranded RNA protected by two protein coatings - nucleocapsid and capsid. Its genetic characteristics are significantly different from SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. LiliF COVID-19 Real-Time RT-PCR Kit is a test kit for simultaneous detection of 3 genes of SARS-CoV-2 - RdRP, E and N gene.The kit detects an internal control (RNaseP gene) simultaneously that allows evaluation of the sample material and isolation method. Sputum samples, bronchoalveolar lavage, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs are examined. PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST The kit contains a specific ready-to-use mixture for the detection of new coronavirus (COVID-19) by real-time reverse transcription (RT-PCR) PCR. The reaction is performed in single-step RT-PCR in real time. The first step is reverse transcription (RT), during which the viral RNA is transcribed into complementary DNA. Thermostable DNA polymerase is then used to amplify the specific fragments of the gene by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The released fluorescence is detected by the optical system of the apparatus during the PCR reaction. Positive signal reading from the PCR response is performed in the FAM and HEX channels.
