NADAL IgE, test cassettes
General information about this test:
The NADAL ListeriaTest is a rapid qualitative immunological test for detection of
Listeria monocytogenes
antigens in human faeces samples. This test is designed to aid diagnosis listeriosis and is intended for professional use only.
Reagents and material supplied:
10 NADAL Listeria test cassettes
10 specimen collection tubes with buffer
1 package insert
Test time:
10 min
Performance characteristics:
The detection limit of the NADAL Listeria Test is 6.25 x 10
4
L. monocytogenes
/ml.
The NADAL Listeriatest does not show any cross-reactivity with the following microorganisms occasionally present in human faeces samples:
E. coli O157:H7
, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella,
Giardia lamblia,
Yersinia enterocolitica, H. pylori, Shigella,
Adenovirus, Rotavirus, Astrovirus
The specificity and sensitivity data for The NADAL Listeria test were obtained by comparison with SinglepathL’mono (Merck).
Sensitivity: >99%
Specificity: >99%.
Test principles:
The NADAL Listeria Test detects
L. monocytogenes
antigens in human stools samples. In case of positive result, during testing, the specimen reacts with anti-
L. monocytogenes
antibodies conjugated to colored particles and precoated onto the conjugate pad of the test. The mixture then migrates along the membrane by capillary action and interacts with specific antibodies on the membrane - a colored line appears in the test line (T) region of the membrane. Obtaining green coloration in the control (C) region of the test guarantees that enough volume of specimen has been added to the wells and the test was run properly.
Clinical significance:
Listeria monocytogenes
is a small gram-positive pathogenic bacteria growing both in aerobic and anaerobic conditions. It is widely spread in the environment: in soil, decaying vegetation, water and may be part of the faecal flora of many mammals, including healthy human adults. The symptoms of listeriosis are non-specific and resemble that of flu.
The main route of
L. monocytogenes
infection is through consumption of contaminated food. vertical infection route (from a pregnant woman to a fetus) is also possible. The symptoms of listeriosis are developed after 2 to 70 days after contaminated food ingestion.
Most healthy adults and children who have consumed contaminated food experience only mild to moderate symptoms. Patients with compromised immune system are at a higher risk for developing severe and life-threatening forms of listeriosis.
